THE COMPREHENSIVE STRESS
A site devoted to research and speculations on stress
(previously: www.stress-cocchi.org)
Testo in italiano
Every illness is always a compromise between an offence ability (the causal
agent ) and a very personal resistance ability, in a given moment of the
biological cycle of a living body. The resistance ability goes even throughout
the reactions of stress.
Warning: If you do not agree to this statement, do not waste any more
your time.
We term stress a set of relations linking external or internal stressors
of physical, chemical, biological / metabolic, and psychological / social
origin to nonspecific reactions of a living organism.
These reactions come out from the homeostasis' modification elicited by the
stressor or stressors, and act as a common final pathway. Stress reactions can be due
from external stressors or internal stressors or both and depend on individually set genetic and acquired
abilities (Cocchi R, 1996, Drug therapy of pseudodementia as modulation of stress reactions. Three
cases It. J. Intellect. Impair. 9: 173-180).
Some consequences:
1. Any internal biological-metabolic modification capable to
disrupting homeostasis can cause stress reactions.
2. Every illness can have symptoms of stress as accompanying symptoms
besides its direct symptoms.
3. The modulation of stress responses can give some relief to every
illness, (see: Speculation4.htm ; Speculation5-it.htm)
even to genetic-chromosomal diseases. (Down' s syndrome; Other
genetic or chromosomal anomalies ) Moreover it can promote cell-mediated immunity against every type
of infections (Immunity).
